Ua Mau Ke Ea O Ka Aina I Ka Pono

or “The Life of the Land is Perpetuated in Righteousness”, which is the state motto of Hawaii.  Photos submitted by Lydia Munger-Little from Hawaii.

Yeah, it is a cliché.  But everyone thinks about palm trees when they think about Hawaii.  If you ask a person to name 5 things about Hawaii, I’m almost certain that a palm tree will be one of the items.

Makes you feel like you are sitting on a blanket just staring out at the waves.   North Shore of Oahu?  Not sure.

I like the contrast the mushrooms make with the grass.  I also like the Smurf point of view.

Aloha indeed.

Love the Technicolor of Hawaiian Shave Ice.

Al-ki: Hope for the future

Greetings from the Evergreen State: Washington

I already showcased some cute kids from Washington in a separate post, so here are some other views submitted by S. Graves from Washington.

I find the moss growing in the roof shingles fascinating.

While the sunset is nice, I like the silhouettes of the evergreens the most.

Industry: Spotlight on Utah

With the church as such a big presence in people’s minds about Utah (at least mine) I think including this photo was appropriate to represent Utah.

I like the feeling of serenity you get when looking at the reflecting pool.

I really like this picture of birch trees.  Seems like abstract art made from nature.

A lot of people associate Utah with great skiing and the outdoors and I think this photo accurately captures that sentiment.

Spotlight on North Dakota

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted.  I’m sure many of you thought I abandoned the project.  That is not the case.  If anything I think I was a little overwhelmed with a deluge of pictures all at once.  Things also were fairly hectic over the last few weeks on multiple fronts.

These photos were submitted from G. Cook from North Dakota.

I really like the use of perspective in this picture.  Great output from a disposable!

I like the mischievous look on the gargoyle.

The post title is from Friedrich Nietzsche.  Both photos submitted C. Dillard of Louisiana.  I like in the first photo of the theatre you can see the street sign for Louisiana.

The first photo is from A. Ludwig in Florida and the second photo is from Nina Yoshida Nelsen from Indiana.  I like the perspective in the first photo and seeing “Music” on the stand.  The second photo just reminds me of small town America and the importance of the cinema in social life.

This photo was submitted by Lydia Munger-Little from Hawaii.  I like the lures and definitely think they qualify as art.
MA (15)
This photo is submitted by C. Cruz Dintino from MA.  Not sure where this sculpture is,This sculpture is from the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, MA and thought it was pretty interesting.

Views from the road.

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH

Submitted by S. Rigg from Idaho.  The chain is a good leading line towards the church.

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH

Submitted by Stephen Grant from Oklahoma.  Good light and I like the curve of the road leading you into the frame.  I also like the dead end sign.  I don’t get the sense the road ends abruptly looking at the picture.

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH Submitted by H. Wang from Oregon.  A good example of "Keep Portland Weird”

TX (5) TX (4)

Submitted by Darlene Murphy from Texas.

These last two were both submitted by Darlene.  I particularly like the second photo with the nice use of framing in the side mirror of her car.
